While traditional Medicare A and B pay 80% of your Hospital and Doctor fees, there is no cap on your out of pocket responsibility- 20% can be quite a large sum for any significant health event. Supplement Plans cover the 20%, and the less costly Advantage Plans cap your maximum out of pocket expense.

A) is Hospitalization –Medicare pays this for up to 60 days after a small deductible. From 61-90 days the deductible increase; from 91-150 days the deductible ( what you pay) Increases again; and after 150 days you pay all costs.

B) is Medical Doctor fees. While Part A is provided by the Federal Government with no premium, Part B requires a premium of approximately $ 170 per month . Part B also pays 80% on covered fees and you pay 20% plus 100% of all excess doctor fees.

C) Is the Medicare Advantage Plan-many plans also provide Plan D which is Prescription Drug coverage. These plans vary but set co pay amounts on different medical tests and appointments. These plans also provide benefits that Original Medicare does not- Vision, Dental, Hearing, and Prescription Drugs and others. The remaining Alphabet is for Medicare Supplement Plans, the “Medigaps” that pay the 20%that Original A and B do not .

The above are but brief explanations of the Medicare options . Your more detailed questions are best answered in person or the phone .
